A WORD

A WORD

forgiveness:
now there’s a word

the dead
   do not forgive

cannot
forgive

memory is frozen
in that cold posture

in time
     with time

the living
might forgive

but the maimed and
mutilated

theirs’ is a horror
beyond speech
