SADALMELIK

SADALMELIK (Alpha Aquarii)

I tell
you that the stars
have Arab names

and that we might
calculate their distance
thanks to your algebra
.
Zero too
    is a

beautiful concept

so much zero here
across these desert sands

there was life
but something subtracted it

bodies abound
        even the sky fireworks
and shock waves

somehow
       fails to wake them

arabesque
algorithm

the stars, the bodies
have Arab names

luckiest of the lucky
   down to zero this night
in Palestine.

I tell you
the stars have Arab names.

CERTAINTY

CERTAINTY

river
sea

enough water there
to slowly
slowly wash
away
hatred

one drop at
a time

while still praying
for the Holy chaos
of a love
tidal wave, a
peace tsunami

who can tell us
what is impossible, when
barriers, boundaries
washed away

all set in atithesus
to this
great poem
of being

forget itself,
     cease to remember

as thing so fiercely sure
of its own identity

take
    leap of faith

no longer demand
its own certainty

between
the river and the sea

HIND

HIND

your last moments
how
   can we forget them
ever forget
them

now they are
seared into us
like
  a cannon flash

and we
      here promise you
little angel
to clear the world of this evil
make it safe
from
   the power that is
death and deaths
league
of demons

let us return
its agents
back to the dust
from whence they came

naming
the darkest places in
the human heart
after them

placing them
in the innermost circle
of the forever Hell
that
   is satanic mind

WEREN’T WE?

WEREN’T WE?

weren’t we
supposed to hold
up the mirror
to human nature

not let it fall
splinter, shatter

crash and burn, break
into a billion tiny
diamond-bright pieces

jagged shards, blood
soaked, blood
painted, bloody

never to be fixed
never
       to be returned
never reclaimed
never restored

all those bits of light
dancing in the Sun grotesquely

hold
up the mirror
to human nature

who the fuck, nowhere
near his right mind
came up
     with that idea

(go not pass go
        leave the planet
sail steadfast, venture into the cosmos
               cross
the galaxy

not, never
in a trillion lifetimes

nothing out there
     to mirror what
we
   might well be)

weren’t we?

FORGIVE ME

FORGIVE ME forgive me O poets of Palestine for I sat round idly looling for rhymes, for couplets whilst you were targeted and killed something about the word even at its softest, most musical cannot but be a threat to the iron mind of power and so I am trying to compose somwtgknv here asking for forgiveness looking for redress but my imagination is failing feels annihilated have no means to express how it feels, what it means to be hit by bombs and bullets in thd middle of a poem thrse tired old feet, these crippled legs putting up such resistance as I hazard a step in your broken, bloody shoes
