AT A TIME

AT A TIME

this is my
read-it-in-five-minutes
micro poem

perfect for
micro learning, micrometer
word measurement
really close reading

one
   syllable at a time
(to get
a fix on the pentameter)
fraction
   of a carat metaphor
miniscule effort
swinging saloon door to
becoming (as
the media ads tell it)
most
    dangerous dude in the room

unless
   someone in there already
having spent
many
   consecutive lifetimes
reading great
odes
   and epics

in this age
of instant bliss
going through
       subatomic meltdown

malfunctioning
at the molecular level

one split atom
at a time

ROPES

ROPES

Ah,
what do we
have here

more and more
look at me postings

every moment
in the spectacle of life

you could put
them all together
you would have an album
you would have
a history

something definitive
but,
     call me
old goat
    call me spoilsport
                   misanthrope

but as darkness
gathers and
        they do tighten the
ropes

I fear what I saw
as no change
is every
          kind of  change

same smiling look at me
posture
         look at my face

thought there
            no change

      but seems
the frame, it
                  has darkened
and they have tightened the ropes

THAT WILLIAM BLAKE CHARACTER

THAT WILLIAM BLAKE CHARACTER

saw that William
Blake character
on social media

disagreed about the war
had a few sharp words

fresh from this exchange
looked him up
found
   not a word on Wikipedia
save a reference to a character
in a Jim Jarmusch film

which seriously flustered me
for I had got this notion
into my head
   about this far from prototypical
radical
      early nineteenth century
English Romantic poet

but seems it is all a myth, a false flag,
huge disinformation

which
     stands to reason,
for if there were really
a Songs of Innocence and
a Songs of Experience

think how
different the world would be
