WELTEVREDEN
let us
trade places
explore those spots
exactly where we
shade each other
shade, I think correct,
would be imprecise
to venture
“eclipse”
though, as I am sure
you cottoned on,
I was of the opinion
that in all things
you
did eclipse me
I say “was”
but maybe think
still am
but let me venture
that whilst you, unquestionably
the supreme lover,
it is in
the classroom, the lecture hall,
here in the poem
that I know
almost no match
and so
here we in
your boudoir
that fateful night whose
memory has slipped but
which I
can
never forget
me in your body, in your bed,
you this time
(thinking
like I did that this
was a
beginning, time
absolutely at
my command)
on the couch watching you
slip beneath the sheets
near naked
as you
were
but
now it is me
wanting to be taught
desperate to learn
summoningly you to
join me
with every bit of
seduction I might muster
not going
to take no
for an answer
trading places
who can tell
what by morning
finds itself in the throes
of near
absolute shift
